Project Goal: The goal of this project was to create five visually engaging posters that capture the essence of the Yuppie subculture of the 1980s. Each poster aims to illustrate the defining characteristics, beliefs, and values of young urban professionals, using color, imagery, typography, and design to resonate with and affirm their identity. Experience: Throughout the project, I conducted research on the cultural context of the Yuppies, exploring their lifestyle, attitudes, and societal perceptions. I focused on elements that symbolize their affluence and ambition, such as business attire, urban landscapes, and symbols of success (like luxury cars and high-end brands). I used a bold color palette that reflected both professionalism and vibrancy, incorporating sharp lines and modern typography to convey a sense of energy and confidence. Outcome: The completed posters effectively communicate the Yuppie identity. Each design uniquely highlights different aspects, such as their career ambitions, materialism, and social values. The posters not only attract Yuppies through relatable imagery but also reinforce their cultural significance. Feedback indicated that the visuals resonated well with the intended audience, successfully capturing the spirit of the 1980s Yuppie lifestyle while fostering a sense of pride and belonging within the subculture.
